Many of the sediments lining the coast of New Zealand in the upper right quadrant are released by the Ngaruroro River. Located in the eastern North Island of New Zealand, it runs for a total of 100 kilometres. The Ngaruroro is one of several rivers that helped form the alluvial Heretaunga Plains at the south end of the coast of Hawke Bay.
From its origin in the Kaweka Range it flows southeast and then east before emptying into Hawke Bay 10 kilometres south of Napier, near the town of Clive. In addition to the mountains of the Kaweka Range, the active stratovolcano Mount Ruapehu can be seen at the top edge.
